CATA LOGG is a catalogue.
And CATA LOGG is the catalogue for the FOOT NOTE to the pamphlet that may have the title YEAR ZERO.
But...
First you have to be informed how time is structured within FOOT NOTE.
From one perspective much of the context of FOOT NOTE is made public on the date, that specific content was first delivered in whatever year that might have been.
But
From another perspective much of the content of FOOT NOTE is made public within a month that represents a year within the twelve year world tour of The 25 Paintings.
Thus...
January is 2014
February is 2015
March is 2016
2017 does not exist in the Penkiln Burn Universe
April is 2018
May is 2019
June is 2020
July is 2021
August is 2022
September is 2023
October is 2024
November is 2025
December is 2026
But yet another perspective, The Curfew Tower is...
Well that can wait
So anyway...
FOOT NOTE is being catalogued over 365 days, from the 1st of January to the 31st of December 2026.
But...
Over those 365 days of 2026, FOOT NOTE might be tampered with, and in turn CATA LOGG updated, thus INDX reconfigered.

What follows is, as of right now, the content of CATA LOGG...

Bill Drummond is a man with issues. Some of those issues he has with himself, and some of those issues are ones that other people have with him. The stain of these issues can be found throughout FOOT NOTE. All issues fade while giving birth to others.
And...
Bill Drummond has other selves.
Also...
Within the Penkiln Burn Universe, Bill Drummond is only ever known as the former Bill Drummond, as all that is known about the former Bill Drummond is his past. As yet we are not aware of his future or if he has one.

William E. Drummond wrote the novella I HAVE JUST MURDERED MY WIFE as a template for a script for a film of the same name. The film would have been / might be / will be a film using the script as an internal monologue by Tam Dean Burn and filmed and directed by Tracey Moberly. And might be filmed in May / July 2026
But even if this novella does not give birth to a film of the same name, it is hoped it will exist as a spoken novella within FOOT NOTE over the 28 days of February 2026.
The words to this novella were originally written over the last week of 2025, in the Jodphur Park region of South Kolkata, India, after he had written the script for SINCE MY WIFE DIED.
William E. Drummond would like it known that this novella and the film, if it ever becomes a film, is dedicated to all the friends he had in Corby between the years of 1964 and when he left in the early to mid 1970s. And of course, to the town of Corby itself and The Fens and the North Norfolk Coast. And all the memories those places and names trigger.
And especially to Mary McElwee and Reinhardt Alders.
Post Script:
Some of the content in this novella has been borrowed from the memories that variants of the former Bill Drummond has used in other ‘stories’. And William E. Drummond would like it known that he was inspired to write this novella after reading Art Rock is Dead by Tony Wright on the flight over to Kolkata.

The Penkiln Burn is a small river in the far Southwest of Scotland.
The Penkiln Burn also flows through the content of FOOT NOTE.
The Penkiln Burn also gave birth to the Penkiln Burn Universe in the mind of the former Bill Drummond the moment in 1958 when he sat on a certain rock and stared into its waters.
SPOKE
WRIT
The only subjects that the former Bill Drummond was good at, when he was at school, was Arithmetic and Metal Work. Both of these subjects were based on the premise that things had to make sense. As in, if they did not make sense, they either fell apart, or you got your answer wrong.
But...
The former Bill Drummond did not want things to make sense. The former Bill Drummond found there was a war going on in his mind about things making sense and things making no sense. He wanted None Sens to win.
Because Bill Drummond passed four O’ Levels, he was encouraged to stay on at school to do A’ Levels. The A’ Levels he chose to do were Maths, Technical Drawing and Logic.
He chose to do Logic in hope that he could use it to undermine the argument for things having to make sense. But however many times he wrote in his jotter, 3 + 4, it always added up to Seven.
Although he was drawn to the fact that mankind had decided to base everything on the power of ten, which made no sense, compared to basing everything on the power of twelve. As in, mankind had learnt to count using their fingers. And for whatever reason mankind had evolved to have ten fingers. For sense to prevail mankind should have had twelve fingers.
But...
The lack of sense of things being based on the power of ten was not enough for him.
So...
When the Penkiln Burn Universe started to evolve, he encouraged it to embrace a view where numbers could be based on the power of One, Four, Five, Twelve, Seventeen, Forty, Sixty and One Hundred, all in parallel and all at the same time.
Thus...
These various chosen numbers would be in constant conflict to gain power in the Penkiln Burn Universe.
And...
Where possible numbers should be written as words, as that made little sense when attempting to do the Math.
There is a darker side to these competing powers. And that darker side does relate to the Power of Ten. At some crossroads in his life the former Bill Drummond arrived at a thought pattern where he thought he should never be fucked by the same woman more than ten times. But when he shared this thinking with a woman after she had fucked him nine times, he found that she found this thinking both alarming and offensive.
Thus...
He thought that maybe he should only ever allow one woman to fuck him no more than four time.
But anyway...
Enough of the former Bill Drummond’s darker side and back to the more interesting stuff.
It was after being asked to leave school at Easter in 1970, that the former Bill Drummond decided to dedicate the rest of his life to the pursuit of things not making sense.
The first thing he did was ditch the copperplate way he had been taught to write and had done so for all of the previous ten years. And embrace a writing style only using un-joined upper-case letters. This took him several months to master. But once he had done, he never went back to his copperplate ways of old (except when his other self William E. Drummond signs his name on a wall in a tunnel on the North Circular)

But...
Back to his O’ Levels... The former Bill Drummond failed both English Language and English Literature. This was in a large part due to the former Bill Drummond’s rejection of spelling. The former Bill Drummond was driven by an urge that language should be fluid, and the fact that spelling, as taught by his English teachers, was not fluid but fixed, seemed to be criminal act within the free-flowing evolution of the mind and imagination. As in, this fixed idea of how words should be spelt seemed to hold language back from evolving.
Part of this rejection of spelling evolved from his urge to evolve a written version of his spoken language, that used words, with no more, and no less, than four letters in each word.
This in part came from his internal conflict between the Scots language of his childhood and the English language of his teenage years.
In Scots it was Kirk, but in English was Church.
In Scots it was Auld, but in English was Old.
As in...
Why use six letters when you could use four?
Or...
Why use three letters when you could use the more solid four?
This way of thinking made no sense, thus the former Bill Drummond to this day, has attempted to structure a written language that only ever uses four letter words.
But...
He has rarely used this language except when conversing with himself. That said, he converses with himself more than he converses with any other living beast.
As for Art...
The former Bill Drummond chose not to do Art as an O’ Level subject because...
The former Bill Drummond viewed Art as tool used by those in control to control the people who wanted to be out of control.
This form of control took the form of seduction. Not sexual seduction but the seduction wrapped up in the wrapping paper of Self Expression.
As in...
Art, and by extension all of the creative endeavours, was no more than the PR department of those in control.
I mean...
Art just pandered to those in power while pretending to challenge those in power.
For these reasons...
Art had to be destroyed or at least dismantled by using whatever means necessary.
That said...
The former Bill Drummond would not have been able to express such thoughts at the age of fourteen, when he was choosing which subjects to take for O’ Level.
Thus...
These theories that have evolved in his head over the past forty years, are just what he chooses to project onto the memories of his fourteen-year-old self, in the hope if he projects it hard enough it will become a truth, if not a hard fact.
I mean...
Back then when he was fourteen, he chose not to do art because he thought he was not good enough at drawing pictures, but thought he was good enough at making things, so he did Metal Work instead.
At least with doing Metal Work, he could learn to make a gun.
I mean...
The revolution will not be a drawing, however good the person drawing the drawing is good at drawing.
I mean, a drawing is just something you hang on a wall, in metal work you could learn to make a thing to knock over that wall.
Anyway...

As in, The 25 Paintings are repainted each year of their twelve year tour of the world. And it is the layers of their journey and not what you might see on their surface that is the content of these paintings.
What lies on the surface has very little currency within the Penkiln Burn Universe.
“Don’t judge a painting by what you see hanging on the wall.”
The former Bill Drummond might have proclaimed all sorts of things back in 2014, as to what this twelve year tour of the world was to be about and where it was to be going. And how it was to end on the road to Damascus. But The 25 Paintings had other plans, as did the world, and the physical and mental health of the man who carried their easels. Maybe there is more than one road to Damascus.
Anyway...
For each of those twelve years, Tracey Moberly has diligently photographed and filmed each of those 25 canvases that make up The 25 Paintings, as in both individually and collectively.
And...
Over the twelve months contained within the 365 days of FOOT NOTE, each of those months will be designated to present the documentation of each of the steps taken in their twelve year world tour.

And of course, that moment when the tide turns from Ebb to Flow in the Wigtown Bay, and he feels that deep rush inside his body.
But it is in his domestic life in Suburban North London where he attempts to control time by his annual making of forty jars of marmalade. And this is what he calls Marmalade Time.

This attempt to control time using fort y jars of Marmalade began for Bill Drummond on the 1st of February 2014, as in when he built the shelves to hold forty jars of the marmalade that he had just made and attached the shelves to his then kitchen wall just under the kitchen clock. This causes issues for human beings when in relationship with other human beings.
By constructing other selves for ourself, often helps us to escape who we think we might be.
By constructing other selves about other people helps us to think they are special.
Special can be good, bad or even indifferent.
The former Bill Drummond has attempted to construct many other selves over the previous seventy-two years and counting.

The first known evidence of the former Bill Drummond using another self, was in 1959 while standing on the steps of the Newton Stewart Picture House with his big sister and wee brother. This other self went by the name of Cave Boy.

“We are only whatever other people think we are, however, hard we might try to define who we are ourselves.” To quote the former Bill Drummond.
Sometime around 2018, there was a shift on the cultural tectonic plates was standing on. What seemed to survive was a collection of other selves that climbed out of the Qwerty world of the first computer keyboard that he had just bought. These other selves did not exist in any sort of physical form, but in words and sentences and even paragraphs on the screen in front of him. Anyway...
The former Bill Drummond is on record for having declared that the market for autobiographies / memoirs demands the same arc of a life story, time after time. As in that is what the buying public wants to buy. As in the protagonist’s life in these autobiographies / memoirs begins with poverty – the poverty can be measured as either emotional or fiscal, then there is the struggle, the determination, the reaching beyond, the overcoming.

Anyway...
The former Bill Drummond’s had to confront his cynicism of this whole process. As in not just pontificate about it to himself as he lay in bed awake at night.
So...
He decided a course of action had to be taken.
This course of action being, he would send out a missive into the ether (the then Penkiln Burn mailing list), inviting anyone who was arsed to volunteer to write 1,000 words (no more and no less), on a randomly picked year of his life. But they were to write their 1,000 words as if they were the former Bill Drummond writing his own life story. But they could base what they wrote on what they think might have happened or they could make the whole thing up. But these volunteers, did not get to choose what year they were to write about – their given year would be picked out of a hat. And if they did write those 1,000 words, they could claim ownership of that year in his life, and they would be given a certificate to prove the said ownership. And this happened.
But...
There were way more than seventy people wanting their name to go into the hat. So the former Bill Drummond decided that a second further 70 names could go into the hat and those second 70 would randomly be chosen to write subconscious aspects of a given year.
The ‘real’ years would be considered to be the Over years, and the subconscious ones would be considered the Under years.
But there were even more names. And the former Bill Drummond decided that no one willing to risk taking the risk should be prevented from taking that risk, so he then asked those late arrivals to the game to write a ‘troubled dream’ for a randomly selected year.
In reality not everyone who had wanted their name in the hat, delivered their 1,000 words. But this did not matter because most did.
But...
And this is where it gets more twisted, the former Bill Drummond assumed this was to be a physical book out there in the physical real world. But the novelist William E. Drummond took control of things and decided it should be one of his spoken novels and only available to be heard within the Penkiln Burn Universe.
In reality, some of those that had taken those risks in writing those words felt cheated that there was no physical book to put on their shelf and smell the pages of or even sign their copy of and give copies to friends and family as gifts.
But...
William E. Drummond then commissioned the former Bill Drummond to be recorded narrating, what he called the Over parts and Tam Dean Burn to be recorded narrating the Under parts and Angie Darcy to be recorded narrating the Troubled Dreams parts.
This was done.
And it was supposed to exist on a continual 70-day cycle within the Penkiln Burn website. As in one year per day. But nothing is fixed in the Penkiln Burn Universe, let alone stable.
But...

If Bill Drummond was asked if he had a hobby he might have said collecting birds’ eggs, or stamps, or coins or going fishing, or making things. We like a graphic novel...
Or we have done since we first read WATCHMEN in 1987.
The former Bill Drummond’s idea of turning A Life Model into a graphic novel, was to invite 160-something, randomly selected individuals with no known talent for drawing, to illustrate one randomly selected year of the 70 years contained within A Life Model.
But...
There were strict instructions.
Each illustration had to be done using an HB pencil on a sheet of white A4 paper. And the illustration had to be in landscape dimensions.
Bill Drummond then planned to use these illustrations as a starting point, for himself or others to interpret. Maybe a woodcut version. Or an AI version. No, forget that, maybe not AI version
As of now (31st of May 2025) no interpretations have been done (AI or otherwise).
Thus...
It might be that each of these illustrations, by randomly selected people etc etc... will be posted on the same day as the year in A Life Model, that they have illustrated.
We will see...
Post Script:
All the randomly selected will be credited.
For some reason people are addicted to seeing their names in the credits more than attempting to engage with work. We think every road you drive down should have a notice with the credits of all the workers that worked on building the roads. Or every banana you buy should have the name of the person who picked the banana signed on its skin. Or maybe it is only artists that have the weakness of wanting to see their name in the credits.
Maybe there should be an Anti Credit protest movement.
Imagine a world without credits
It is easy if you try...
We just read the book, hear the record, watch the film and we never know who wrote, sang or directed it.
I mean...
Credits are just part of a class structure for the creative elite.

But...
The former Bill Drummond has another view on things.
The former Bill Drummond has always loved patch work quilts.
The former Bill Drummond has for the past twenty years suppressed the urge to make a patchwork quilt. This patch work quilt he has suppressed himself from making would not have been made from attractive or even exotic looking off cuts. This patchwork quilt would have been made from whatever articles of clothing that he has worn-out, as in before they are tossed in the bin. This route being the making of a patchwork quilt from the various soiled and threadbare remnants from what he has attempted doing since first starting to do The Penkiln Burn back in the late 1990s. And this patchwork quilt being made up of 365 patches. And each of these 365 patches being made from time and words and odds and sods and frayed edges and left behinds and...

SPOKE
WRIT
The former Bill Drummond is in denial...
And not just about the one thing but the many things. But before we get to what in particular, he is in denial about, we have to deal with a couple of his issues...
As with Recorded Music, he has had an almost lifelong issue with the Moving Pictures, as in the flicks, as in cinema, as in the movies, as in going to the Pictures.
As in...
Why pay to watch other people do things when you can be doing things yourself for free. Especially when those ‘other people’ are not actually doing the things but just pretending to do the things.
With the benefit of hindsight and the temptation to re-write one’s own history, the former Bill Drummond likes to make the claim that he was involved in the starting of The Zoo (Zoo Records) in 1978, when the only funding they had was what they got by being on The Dole.
And...
It was those recordings made and released by Zoo Records, that were the most vital and, in the moment, and of their time, that he has ever been lucky enough to be involved with. And they could never be commodified. Or sold to a wider audience. Or polished up. Half-baked careers might have evolved out of those recordings but that is a different story.
So...
Back to what he was in denial about...
The former Bill Drummond, had never put anything in a pension pot, why should he when he could carry on earning a living from whatever it was, he was doing. I mean people wanted to have the name of the former Bill Drummond on their poster or in their gallery or even pay him money to come along and talk about whatever it was he was thinking about.
But...
By the year 2018, or maybe 2019 at a stretch, whatever those that made the decisions no longer needed to have Bill Drummond’s name attached to what they were doing – International Performance Art Festivals etc... His sell by date had passed.
But the denial continued.
He was now old enough to sign on for his State Pension. But why the fuck would he want to if he can still run to catch the bus or drive a White Ford Transit Van from London to Scotland without stopping for a break. He wasn’t an OAP.
Anyway...
Over the decades he has harboured his issues with moving pictures. He knew inside him lurked a need to prove something that could only be proved by attempting to make not just one but five full length major motion pictures.
But...
It was that bit above, where we alluded to the notion of how Zoo Records being funded by The Dole, that made him do the following deal with himself.
The deal being, that if he accepted that he could no longer run to catch the bus, and it was time for him to sign on for his monthly State Pension, he should use what he got from that State Pension as the total budget for the films he was going to make.
And that...
The budget for making of each of these five full length major motion pictures would never be any more than his annual state pension. His current annual State Pension amounts of £14,951.52p, thus that is to be the individual and concise budget for each of those five full length major motion pictures. And those five films would have to be of their time and reach deep down into his lived experience and reflect where he was in extra time, as deemed by the referee, as in extra time past the allotted three score years and ten. That would be the challenge, others could decide whether the actual films were worth making. Thus no, cap-in-hand to any film funding board, let alone a commercial film company. I mean, if it could not be done on your state pension it was not worth attempting to do.
Post Script:
And this is an important postscript...
Or we think it is...
Dave Balfe, as in the David Balfe that the former Bill Drummond did Zoo Records with back in the late 1970s, has had an ongoing influence on his thinking and actions over the preceding decades. Back in early September 1994, this Dave Balfe contacted the former Bill Drummond telling him he had to come with him to a two-day session that was part of this thing called the Raindance Film Festival that was happening somewhere in London. The former Bill Drummond was not in a state of mind to questions things. So he went to this thing that he had no idea what it was about. What it turned out to be out was a two-day film school, as in how to make a film. At the end of the two-days the former Bill Drummond was given a certificate telling him he was now a qualified film producer. As in, Bill Drummond had never been qualified to do anything before in his life, let alone being given a certificate to prove it.
But...
This two-day film school was basically one bloke talking for about 16 hours in total, as to how to make a feature film for a starting budget of less than $5,000. Or was it five thousand quid?
Anyway...
What the former Bill Drummond found uncomfortable about this was...
Less than two weeks before attending this two day course, the former Bill Drummond had been the co-producer of a feature film that had the starting budget of One Million Quid, and in the days running up to those less than two weeks before, the former Bill Drummond had thought, the budget of £1,000,000 was a very low budget for making a feature film that would go on to have the name Watch The K Foundation Burn a Million Quid.
But...
Here he was being told it could / should have all been done with a budget of less than $5,000. Or maybe five thousand quid.
This is an issue that has smouldered within him over the these preceding 30-odd years and counting.
Something had to be done.
As in put into practice the one thing he had ever been officially qualified to do – as in be the producer of feature films.
The first thing he did was work out what $5,000 was in sterling in 2024, taking into account inflation. The result (according to those Bank of England online inflation calculator), was less than what he was now getting on his state pension. Thus the former Bill Drummond had no excuse for not taking up arms as that film producer he had the qualifications to be doing.
But...
What this Dov Simens had also stated was that it there was no guarantee that the film you produced was going to be any good or not. But as the former Bill Drummond has stated on many occasions you need to have 999 shite artists to have a chance at having the one good one. Thus, even if you are one of the 999 shite ones, you are still doing your job, so there can be the one good one. As in we need to have all those shite films to have the great ones.
Thanks Dave.
And...
Thanks Dov.

These issues do not stop him from listening to podcasts while doing the washing up.
These issues have included the prejudice, on his part, that he believes the vast majority of hosts of podcasts, and in turn their guest, do not really know what they are talking about. And the fact that they do not really know what they are talking about is not particularly an issue for them. As in the issue for them is more... How many people are listening to their podcast? Or... Is being a guest on this podcast helping to sell their book and up their profile?
It is for these reasons why the former Bill Drummond has never wanted to be a guest on a podcast – as in he is very aware that he too, has never really known what he is talking about. Thus does not want to do his washing his dirty dishes in public.
‘Laundry!’
‘Yeah, I know...’
But...
In the early days of 2026, the former Bill Drummond realised he was wrong.
He realised that for a podcast to work, both the host and the guest must not really know what they are talking about. It is because they subconsciously give off that air of ‘not really knowing what they are talking about’ the listener can feel engaged. And in turn makes the listener feel part of the conversation, and not just a dimwit learning from the expert.
Thus...

The thing is...
I guess we never know when we have sold our soul.
Or...
At least we do not know we are about to sell our soul until it is too late.
Back in the September of 2014, as in on the first step of The 25 Paintings twelve-year world tour, the former Bill Drummond wrote a piece with the title How To Sell Your Soul to The Devil. It was published in a local online magazine called Manchester Confidential. You can still find it by clicking on HERE
The thing is...
The former Bill Drummond wrote this without much thought of consequences. As in consequences have never been a big thing in his life.
But...
Over the past twelve years, this off the cuff piece of his, has had more consequences than anything else he has ever written.
Those consequences have not furthered his career or stimulated the legions of followers or likes that can be quantified in a social media way. Or even a, here today gone tomorrow, viral sensation.
But...
Over those past twelve years, there has not been a day gone by without an email landing in his inbox from what must be judged as a desperate person willing to, and wanting to know how they can, sell their soul to the Devil, so they can feed their family in the here and now, in exchange for their eternal damnation. And this is for real. The pain drips from these emails. That said there are others who are totally upfront about their hunger for ‘fame and fortune’ in the here and now, they don’t give a damn about what might lie ahead for them in the hereafter.
When these responses first started to come in, the former Bill Drummond assumed they were joke responses, as in people thinking it a bit of a laugh. But as the tide that never turned kept coming towards him, he began to realise these emails were for real and these were desperate people.
At some point he responded to some of these emails asking how they knew to contact him, and they in turn responded by emailing him back telling him, that out of desperation, had put into Google “how do I sell my soul to the Devil” and Google had responded by taking them to the story that I had written and been published in a local online magazine in Manchester back in 2014.
Now this bit is a bit presumptive...
From the names and tone of the vast majority of emails, the former Bill Drummond has assumed the vast majority of these emails have come from sub-Saharan Africa or Central and South America. As in parts of the world where a fundamental version of Christianity rings truer than anything we could ever experience.
Within the UK, amongst people of a certain age, one might assume that the question most aimed at the former Bill Drummond might be “did you really burn...?” or at least “Why did you burn...?”
But no.
The questions lying in his inbox tray each morning are a thousand times more likely to be “How do I sell my soul to the Devil?”
The former Bill Drummond had initially responded to these questions with the flippant answer of “If you are asking that question, you must have already sold you soul, I hope you got a good price”. But he soon learnt his ‘flippant answer’ just piled on the pain to those on the far sides of the world, who were willing to sell whatever they could, in an attempt to feed their children or care for the dying mother.
Does us sharing this information help anyone out there in a very real world or even add a different texture to whatever this patchwork quilt made from Time & Words might be?

Are you a twin?
Or if not...
Do you ever imagine what it must be like to be a twin?
I mean, given the possibilities of choosing such a thing, would you ever choose to become a twin?
Or...
If you had a superpower, what would you choose it to be?
And while considering your answers, let me use the time to tell you, that the above questions were questions that used to gnaw at the mind of the former Bill Drummond as 20th Century was tipping into the 21st Century.
As in...
There were times when the former Bill Drummond would be sitting in motorway service station and imagine an identical person to himself walking in, and the former Bill Drummond would wonder “What the fuck should I do?”. Would he pretend he had not noticed him? Or would he go up to him and say “You must be my long-lost identical twin. Do you drink your tea black? What is your favourite record by The Rolling Stones?” But no amount of wondering ever made that happen, whatever the service station was.
As for the last of those questions, as in what would he choose to be his superpower. The answer often given would be to create an identical twin for someone else sitting at another table in the service station. And this other, as yet unknown, identical twin walking into the service station café. And they see each other. And the former Bill Drummond would be watching. And he would be imagining all of the repercussions of this happening. And how it might be the opening scene of a Marvel Universe film that would never get made. I mean you are watching the new take on Wonder Man, where those with superpowers are being rounded up and imprisoned by those...

This he did in the real and practical world by not seeking anyone’s permission and by making a TWINNED WITH YOUR WILDEST DREAM traffic sign and attaching it to the Welcome to Belfast sign that one would pass if one was driving into Belfast on the road from Belfast International Airport. How long the actual sign was there before it was removed, he had no idea and did not really care. The things was that it had been done and could never be undone.
Next...
Or three years after the twinning of Belfast, The Intercontinental Twinning Association twinned the city of Kingston upon Hull (as in Hull), with your darkest thought. And this was done using the same methods as were used for Belfast. As in a road sign being made that said TWINNED WITH YOUR DARKEST THOUGHT. And the former Bill Drummond attaching this road sign to the Welcome to Kingston upon Hull sign.
Next...
As in 2004...
The Intercontinental Twinning Association attempted to twin Kensington in Liverpool with the Kensington in London. As in one of the most negleted areas of Liverpool with one of the most entitled areas of London. But this twinning was going to take a different path. There were going to be no road sign attached to Welcome to Kensington signs. Instead, the former Bill Drummond attempted to twin 100 kettles in Kensington Liverpool with 100 kettles in Kensington in London, and while he was doing that distribute 1,000 KENSINGTON Twinned With KENSINGTON mugs to the residents in both Kensingtons
He had the 1,000 mugs made but...
The former Bill Drummond’s personal life was shattering...
The centre of his life was not holding.
And those two Kensingtons never got twinned. And he hated the look of the mugs.
And time moved on...
And The Intercontinental Twinning Association stayed a secret.
In 2021, when The 25 Paintings twelve-year world tour arrived in Great Yarmouth, the former Bill Drummond attempted to lift The Intercontinental Twinning Association out of its secret gutter so that it could twin Great Yarmouth with... But then he forgot what he was going to twin it with, or even if he maybe had actually twinned it with...
And in the following year, as in when The 25 Paintings arrived in Corby for their eighth step of their world tour, the former Bill Drummond attempted to get The Intercontinental Twinning Association to twin Corby with Beyond. What ‘Beyond’ was, was open for anyone to interpret. But the now former Bill Drummond failed.
But in an attempt to make up for these previous failures, the former Bill Drummond is hoping over the remaining months of FOOT NOTE / 2026, to not only mark the twining of Belfast with Your Wildest Dream and Kingston upon Hull with Your Darkest Thought, but complete the twinning of Kensington with Kensington; Great Yarmouth with whatever it was that was to be twinned with, and Corby with Beyond.
We will see.

Yesterday the former Bill Drummond received an email from a John Roberts asking why the Silent Protest pack of cards were not included in FOOT NOTE.
The former Bill Drummond did not have an answer for this John Roberts
In reality...
The former Bill Drummond had forgotten that the Silent Protest pack of cards had ever existed.
But his then future wife had a pack of them. This pack of cards being the only thing she has of his, other than his washing and Indian visa details.
So...
This morning, he took the pack and photographed each of them on his dining room table.
And...
The former Bill Drummond thought the one of each of the Silent protest cards should appear on each of the 52 Thursdays contained within FOOT NOTE. To do this would require an element of back dating as the first of the Thursdays for FOOT NOTE has already slipped out the door.
The former Bill Drummond then realised he had no idea when these Silent Protest cards were published or what instigated their publication. He found some stuff on the internet that implied it might have been in 2002, and they were created and published as some sort of reaction to some war somewhere.
Was this another case of ‘white saviour complex’? Or even worse – The Artists wanting to whitewash their vanity by proclaiming this to be something called Activism. Just like your local Billionaire indulges in being philanthropist.
Anyway...
The former Bill Drummond can’t hide the fact that he did these Silent Protest Cards, even though they were not going to stop one bullet being fired at the same time as he might get some media coverage for doing them.
Anyway...
These are the photos of the box they came in. You might be able to read the blurb on them...
If not, we will instruct the former Bill Drummond to do a SPOKE version for you click on.

The former Bill Drummond has ongoing issues with recorded music. As much as he has an urge to reject all recorded music, there comes a time when even that tide turns, and he finds himself embracing it.
Recorded Music lies and deceives.
Recorded Music flirts and flatters.
Recorded Music dangles fame and fortune.
Recorded Music even offers life after death.
And of course...
Recorded Music exploits your longing for your lost younger self.
In the early years of this century the former Bill Drummond attempted to murder Recorded Music. He failed. Recorded Music just laughed at his failings and went on its way.
The former Bill Drummond now likes to think he has done a deal with Recorded Music. In this imagined deal, Bill Drummond has agreed to oversee the birth of Five Long Playing Records, each of them containing a form of Recorded Music. The former Bill Drummond likes to think that part of the deal is that he has agreed that these five Long Playing Records must never be pressed in editions of no more than 1,000 copies, thus that illusion of ‘fame and fortune’ can be kept at bay.
And...
These Five Long Playing Records go by the names of and are by...
Voices From The Galloverse by The Penkiln Burn Players
STAY by The Artists in Residence
EMOTIONS by The Tied Hands
True To The Trail by Those That Knew
And...
LOST by The Nine Women
And...
Where and when these five long playing records might exist within the walls and structures of FOOT NOTE is as yet unknown.
That said...
Historically...
Voices From The Galloverse by The Penkiln Burn Players was only to be available at future performances given by The Penkiln Burn Players.
There are those in the Real World that believe the five long playing records released by Penkiln Burn Recordings do not exist as physical objects thus only exist in the Fake World.
Which begs another question.
In the war between the Real World and the Fake World, which side will win?

The former Bill Drummond was told by his career’s advice officer at school that there were no apprenticeships for lads to become bridges down the steel works in Corby.
So...
The former Bill Drummond attempted to follow a different path.
The former Bill Drummond considers the greatest work of art that he has ever been involved with is the building the Old Matford Lane bridge over the M5 just southwest of Exeter. This was in the summer of ’75. As in sometime after him hearing Down By The Jetty by Doctor Feelgood but before hearing Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen.
But...
Sometime after the year 2003 but before the year 2013, the former Bill Drummond graffitied the words IMAGINE WAKING UP TOMORROW AND ALL MUSIC HAS DISAPPEARED, under forty different bridges around the world. But in whatever the spoken language of that part of the world was.
Within the context of FOOT NOTE, photographic evidence of twelve of these vandalised bridges will be made available. Each piece of evidence will exist for one day per month and no more. What a Muse might be is up for debate.
Within the more traditional History of Art, a Muse is usually considered to be a female of younger years that can trigger emotions in a male artist of somewhat older years. And for the male Artist to use those triggered emotions into a work of Art. If there is a transaction between the Muse and the Artist, it is not for us to know.
But...
Judge we will...
That said...
The Muse seems to have gone out of fashion in the more contemporary world of Art as we know it.
But...
None of the above has stopped the former Bill Drummond aspiring to be a Muse for Hire for most of his life.
First...
As a baby, he cut his teeth, even before he had any teeth, as a Muse for others to peer at, so they could feel those emotions that are triggered in people, when they look at babies.
Then...
As a pupil in various classrooms between 1958 and 1970. His main role then was to be the Muse for the teachers to trigger their rage and wroth at. That said many of his fellow pupils fulfilled the same role. As in, the teachers’ appetite to express their rage and wroth at the former Bill Drummond’s generation. As in, what we now call the Boomer Generation. As in, this generation that had never gone through and won a war, thus saved the world from Nazis, and Fascists and even the Communists, but just spent their time listening to 7” records and dancing the Shake, or whatever the dance craze for that moment was.
The high tide mark of this chapter of the former Bill Drummond’s talent as a Muse for Hire, was on the first day of the Autumn term in 1968, when the former Bill Drummond, instead of wearing either a white or grey shirt with his school tie, wore a brightly coloured Paisly Patterned shirt, that he had bought in Carnaby Street that Summer. Although there is no evidence of this moment happening, the former Bill Drummond wardrobe department, still has the brightly coloured Paisly Patterned shirt in case it is ever needed in his craft as Muse for Hire.
Then...
From the age of eighteen onwards he has fulfilled the role of being a young man, a middle-aged man, and even an old man, to trigger the emotions of disappointment, resentment and anger, within a select few women. As in, when these select few women realised the former Bill Drummond was not the suitable partner that they had so creatively imagined him to be. But merely a Muse for Hire.
Then...
There was also a time in the late 1980s and early 1990s where young men who might be the type of young men to read music papers and have opinions about things and why things are the way they are and what things should not be the way they were. For some of these young men the then former Bill Drummond would be their conceptual muse of choice, without even knowing that such a transaction was taking place. But they too would be disappointed, in their choice.
I mean...
Is it the job of a Muse for Hire to trigger all of these various emotions.
But...
Who actually pulls those triggers?
But...
At some point after the mid 1990s, these young men were not as young and no longer needed what the then former Bill Drummond provided as a Muse and they found other Muses to satisfy their needs, even if they did not know that is what they were doing.
But...
Over the intervening years the former Bill Drummond has refined his talents at being a Muse. A Muse that no longer triggers either positive or negative emotions but is just there to do what is required. And in doing so has revived some of the more traditional tropes of Muse-dom. These more traditional tropes of Muse-dom can be observed and judged in several hundred photographs and films constructed by the Tracey Moberly. And in this role, he has learnt to do as he is told. Look this way or look that way on command.
Is BILL DRUMMOND by TRACEY MOBERLY both a film and an exhibition in the waiting?
I mean...
Is the stench of that future BILL DRUMMOND by TRACEY MOBERLY exhibition or even film, smeared across the pages of FOOT NOTE?
As for a future Bill Drummond being a Muse for Hire, make your offer and we will ask the future Bill Drummond to respond.
